When you want a date that combines touring your town and spending time together, you’re not going to find much better than Go Tuk’n. Come along with us as we share our very first 50 First (Coast) Dates!
What Is Go Tuk’n?
We are so glad you asked! Go Tuk’n is a local tour company, where guests ride in the back of an electric “Tuk Tuk”, helmed by a tour guide. Tuk tuks are three-wheeled motorized vehicles, usually seen in Thailand, and are a fantastic way of getting around. In Jacksonville and the surrounding areas, these vehicles are speedy and maneuver easily, allowing up-close access to local sights.
How To Book Your Go Tuk’n Date
Check out the Go Tuk’n website here. This will give you a rundown of the tours, pricing, and additional services offered. You can opt for an intimate tour for two, or set up a scavenger hunt or party for a large group. If you don’t see something you like, give them a call and co-owners Steph or Steve, or one of the other incredible staff members, will create something just for you. (We highly recommend requesting Toni as your tour guide. She is absolutely passionate about her tours and has so much knowledge to share.)
What To Expect On Your Date
When you arrive at your Go Tuk’n date, your tour guide greets you and welcomes you to the tuk tuk. You’ll receive a radio and new pair of ear buds, which will help you hear your tour guide clearly over the sound of traffic.
If you pre-ordered drinks, a cooler with cups will already be waiting for you in the vehicle.
Load up and get ready to go. These tours are absolutely incredible, whether you are going as a couple or in a group, so get ready for fun!
Your amazing tour guide shares so much interesting information, and answers so many questions. They have such passion for the city and the details they share, which adds such richness to the tour. The vehicle pulls right up to buildings or art installations, allowing you to get out and take it all in. On the architectural and public art tours, this definitely added to our experiences.
There are plenty of opportunities for photos which is a great way to commemorate your date, too.
Additionally, we got some really great recommendations on restaurants and things to do in town, and we used that to make dinner plans after the tour, as well as future date plans!
Tips
- Be sure to bring sunscreen! The vehicle has a roof, but it is open to the sun and elements, so take precautions.
- Bring as little as possible. You will get in and out of the vehicle quite a bit, and a big purse or bag is inconvenient. Wear a crossbody bag or only bring what fits in your pockets.
- While the beer, wine, and other drinks are fun, be sure to hydrate (water is available for purchase, too). Two or more hours out in the Florida heat is no joke.
- Take lots of photos and/or notes. You’ll be getting so much information, and it’s fun to delve deeper into history and explanations after the tour.
- Tip your tour guide! They are amazing and spend so much time ensuring your experience on their tuk tuk is the absolute best.
- Have fun! This is a great day out and a perfect date afternoon or evening!
